  • See, my mechanic just died so I have to take the time to find a new one. When I do, I treat that person like a king. I bring ice cold drinks when my vehicles need repairs, I don't complain, I thank them for working on it and am genuinely grateful for the work done.

Now just need to find a new one in Paris.

      • Also i am thinking of starting a fuel pump rental program. About once a week someone at the gas station across the street will fill their diesel up with E85. They see my shop and run over. I made an inline fuel pump setup to be used with my Power Probe so we can just feed the hose in and pump out the tanks into out 5 gallon jugs. Damn shame pouring that fuel into my underground holding tanks but i dont have anything that will run on it without clogging everything up and besides, it usually has a few gallons of diesel mixed in and i would bet the rest of the fuel system wouldnt care too much for that.

I would bet I dumped nearly $1000 in E85 this year so far.

I have customers that bring me cakes and some that bring pizza and some that bring drinks. These are customers I go the extra mile for. Pick them up and drop them off, cost + 20% on parts and if i am working on something and see another part thats not quite right I will take care of it. These customers know what they have though and want to keep me on their side. Its amazing how a $10 pizza will save you $100 on your repair bill.

I am not punishing those with an attitude, I just do not reward them like I do a nice customer.

I did have a guy cuss me out today because I wouldnt go out and show him how to use his refrigerant suicide kit he just bought. I was really nice and explained in great detail why those kits are bad and show him why my refrigerant gauges were $310 and not free with a can of cold juice. He decided I had no idea what I was talking about and all the commercials show people just hooking the can up and then needing sweaters. *shock face* LMFAO!!!
I'm on the opposite end of that, customer came in today swearing up and down that the ac pro stuff we sold him caused his car and his sons car to seize up and every shop in town won't work on it now because it has stop leak in it.

I just let him rant, yeah I'm sure every shop in town turned you down because you weren't just an ass hole to all of them.

One of those "it was running fine yesterday" people. It can't cost $1200 to fix my ac! It was working just fine yesterday!! I'm sure the shop just told him to buzz off after he threw a fit about his ac not being ice cold and then charging him a $75 diagnostic fee to tell him he needed a $700 job

            • I just left the Border Patrol in Laredo and one of the agents was throwing a fit about the A/C not working right. I went out, hooked up the gauges, low and behold, plenty of Freon. I got to looking at everything and it was a cage truck with A/C in the cage for the illegals they catch. Whoever was riding shotgun bumped the switch on the center console and turned it to rear air only lmao. Quick flip and the A/C in the cab worked wonderfully lol! Another agent was bitching about his A/C quitting after a few minutes. Hooked up the gauges and as soon as I turned the A/C on, the high side pressure went to 325lbs. Both fans kicked on high, but no cooling was going on. I finally grabbed the water hose and washed probably 10lbs of dirt and sand out of the condenser and radiator. The high side pressure immediately dropped to 210 or so and it was blowing plenty cold non stop lol.

              • I love these stories... working for the public in any service industry exposes you to idiots on a daily basis. I'm so glad that my days in the Service Dept are behind me now.

LSVT, I wish you were a little closer, my old Corvette needs some work (radio upgrade & A/C service) and it sounds like it would be right up your alley. Stop by and pick it up next time you're coming through Canton...

When someone does a little extra, or even just does their normal job with a level of concern about the customer, I will kick in a bigger tip, or send a note to the manager about the great service.

                  • Shop calls after my commercial Dept closes, it's kind of on my way home but he only wants an oil filter that is $3. Fuckit I'll do it as a kind gesture to get more business from them. I ask the writer what kind of car it is, uhhhh it's a 99 BMW M. OK what model? Uhhh it just says m here's the part number I need

When I get there it's a modified BMW z3 m coupe, I have to knock on the shop door three hard times and the service writer doesn't flinch, I go in and tell him what kind of car it is and he just says whatever and signs the slip.

Please people just do your own damn oil changes

Was it a "adult owned" BMW M series ?

                      • Had another DFWM customer today. I have several of you as customers and one thing I have noticed is ya'll are very quiet and polite. Thanks for the patronage folks! At least there is one more of us that does not have to live without AC.

If I was closer, you'd have my business...not that I need much done.

And DFWM seems to be either quiet and polite, or running in circles trying to eat their own face. Not much middle ground. I'll leave it up to you to determine who fits into which group.

No problem at all and I thank you for your buisiness. If you have any issues at all my number is on the receipt. Just glad yours was something simple and cheap.

                              • I don't know if I've made a post about this or not, but I'm done correcting people on their ammo choices. I was talking to Dee today via text about people wanting .45ACP for their Taurus Judges, and .38SPL for their 1911's, and when we got done I had a customer recognize me in the HEB and start an argument with me about not having any .475 Linebaugh for his .480 Ruger, because .480 is the bigger one (it's not). Fine. I'll order you some Linebaugh right away. No problem.
ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh
