So I had this stupid motherfucker DRIVE.....yeah, drive his 03 ranger in with NO BRAKES...pedal goes to the floor and doesn't stop for shit. Said he wants them "fixed"....305k miles....I gently maneuver it into a bay using the ebrake. There is some kinda shit floating in the master cylinder=I proceed to suggest removing what looks like transmission fluid in the reservoir and bleed the brakes. It also has ABS...I suggested to said customer that it looks like something other than brake fluid is in the brake system..."I don't know what you are talking about" says said customer...I proceed to evacuate the entire system and find trans fluid...I cant even get any fluid out of the rear brakes...I then said we have a problem with the HCU and since the vehicle has been driven like this, im positive the master cylinder is most likely bypassing and needs to replaced as well..."Oh, some brake fluid started leaking a few months ago so all I had was powersteering fluid and dumped in the reservoir"...I then said well now its a must that we replace master cylinder and the HCU and fully flush the system..."Well my mechanic says we don't need to do all that, all it needs is a good bleeding"....WTF..... .. ..... ....Why the fuck did you even bring it to me in the first place douchenozzle????????_____________________________________________

We replace any part with rubber in a braking system that had anything other than brake fluid in it. The brake fluid will suck the moisture right out of the rubber hoses, piston seals, ABS pump and the master that have been contaminated with any other fluids.
SMKR, feel free to bring it by any time.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

You just flush it and get it barely working and he would be back 2 days later claiming your work broke everything on his truck
I have no new abnormal stories, just the typical slack jaw yokels driving an 06 audi, bmw, Mercedes with 200k miles gawking about paying $10 for one quart of oil just cuz " it's running low "

Oh I forgot I do have one
A lady called last week to say that we installed a battery incorrectly and two shops now have told her that our install caused the main fuse on the fuse block to melt and now the alternator and ac don't work. OK sounds logical let me call the shop.
I have connections to every shop and get the 411 that this lady went to both shops, the first one being a local who does great work at high price and hates my autostore because the other auto parts chain saved his grand father's life in world War 2 (a slight exaggeration) but anyways he hates our Store. Mechanic shop #2 large chain had no idea of any charging problem and the car was only brought to them for ac not working, and to top it off her battery was bought 3 months before the ac went out
Called the customer and told her I spoke to large chain shop and she cussed me out and accused me of calling her a liar and I needed to call local mechanic who swears we caused the problems and then hangs up on me.
I call her back in the third person, our auto store does not deal with shops and only provides customer service, we will need invoices stating damages done by our installation and the work required to fix it. We will start a claim and submit your bill for review to have a corporate representative determine fault. Gave her the customer service number between her cursing me out and said have a great day.
Even the local mechanic who does outstanding auto surgery and hates us would never put that a battery install caused her ac to go out 3 weeks later on an invoice
I won't lie a reversed install of a battery is pretty ambarassing but we know immediately that it's our fault. We tell the customer straight up; we ducked up were towing it were paying to have it fixed. Name the shop. But it's immediate and not a 3 week or 3 hour later problemLast edited by 4king; 06-17-2015, 11:35 PM.

BTW, my coworker was having some trouble diag-ing an 06 powerstroke 130k miles...running like shit and smoke blue smoke...dead misfires on 2 and 6...had a list of DTC's and I asked him if he did his homework and checked the fuses...I was standing there when he pulled the lower dash cover because there was a code for forced limit power low fuel level...guage shows 3/4??? Mud up inside and behind instrument cluster(here we go)...told service writer to call customer and tell him findings...poor sap just bought it from a locally...no branded title either...maybe river water, who knows_____________________________________________

Anything that goes into this shop only comes out looking brand new, if that ranger shows up here again you will add a $45 tag to the diagnostic fee for the hour it will take me to write up everything to replace on that truck to make it look like it came from the dealer. Oh he only wanted a brake flush? Sorry we don't do that here but here is the $3600 invoice for complete suspension overhaul and brake system rebuild
Any work done by a dealer should act like the car was just purchased from a dealer, no cutting corners or back yard fixes
