PF25 is the shorter version of the PF35, which is now the PH1218. The PF52 is the skinny filter used on 4wd SBC 88-98 trucks.

    • Huh. Crazy stuff on the Mobile 1. I've used it in almost everything I've owned except the last three ford's and never a problem. Ford or GM. I use motorcraft synthetic blend in the focus now. So far so good.
Non tapatalk Sig so the butt hurt va-JJs can stop crying about not being able to turn it off.

It's what they list for the 92-96 Corvette. I only use Bosch and Mobil 1 now.

Yeah Motorcraft blend has always been good and when its on sale I like to use it as well. As for the Mobil1 thing i dont know if it was a coincidence or what but it was strange to lose so many motors so quick the same way. The only thing we all had in common was we all had bought the oil at Walmart when they had a case on sale for $24.

          • I have quite a bit of customers use CARQUEST parts due to being the only parts house in town...I use to believe in their parts, but as of the last couple years, they've really pissed me off due to repeat repairs...and haha not because of me. You use CARQUEST?

            • Here is a good read on synthetic Motor Oils.

I have never used Amsoil or RP. What do you guys think about it.

I sell Amsoil, and have studied it extensively. It is legit, and they stand behind their products.
That being said, in my '14 Accord, I use Eneos oil and an Amsoil filter.

I have only ever installed one Carquest item and that was last week. Was an AC compressor. Was the only one in town and the guy just had to have it done that day. Guess I will see if it lasts at all.
I wasnt all that happy about the head pressure but it was hot as hell and my fan was being used to keep my partner from fainting and I think the fan clutch wasnt working 100%. I dont like to see 280psi at idle. I didnt want to test the theroy of the fan clutch cause the guy is a tight wad and if it didnt change anything I would be out the $200 for the damn part. Whos bright idea was it to put freaking electronics in a belt driven fan clutch?

                      • Sound like he will fit right in with the rest. I wish you (LaserSVT) were closer so I could send people your way and take my truck there for service. It's almost impossible to find an honest shop that does quality work these days.

                        • The Border Patrol uses a proprietary mixture of Royal Purple for their vehicles and go 4k miles and change the filter and add enough to refill. Full oil changes on gas vehicles are 12k miles intervals. The diesels are the ones that get me, 5k mile filter and add, 20k mile full changes. Me personally, no way I would run a Powerstroke that long on the same oil, even Royal Purple!

                          • After reading this thread, I got a autozone duralast gold brand new alternator for my gf 2000 V6 mustang. It was the exact part and put out 14.63V upon start up with no accys on and held 14.5V with lights and A/C on. Pretty happy so far. We'll see what the long term performance will be. Factory alt went 171K even with a big stereo on it.

Did Motorcraft pull out of auto parts stores?

I think it is all coincidence. I run Mobil 1 High Mileage in my wife's car for 10k miles and Mobil Super 5000 between 4k-5k miles in my truck. Wife's car has 110k miles and my truck has 215k miles.

I can order Motorcraft wires here at AZ but I run our $29 wires on every car I own. Lifetime warranty and they have lasted longer than my Taylor wires on my cam only ls1.

Our alternators and starters are pretty damn reliable, that being said I would only run the gold (new) alternator on my camaro, but my dirty dailies get the rebuilt. Of thE alternators we sell maybe 1 in 100 has an issue, more times than not though the customer is stupid and doesn't clean connections or breaks the factory pig tail.

Mobil 1 went cheap when they started selling in bulk to walmart, same with ac delco oil filters. That's when I switched to Castrol and bulked up on pf46 (not pf46e) filters. Mobil 1 is still a fine oil I just noticed on my ls1 I dropped 5 psi at idle after a m1 change and immediately switched brands about 5 years ago

Again I daily drive a honda civic with 300k miles that only saw Firestone $20 oil changes its whole life, it's more about the maintenance than it is the brand. That being said after 3 oil changes using m1 and k&n filters my oil stays the golden color for a full 5 k miles where as when I got it the oil would be black a week or two after an oil change. So it does help to have good filtration. The Fram and bargain brand filters only have a 96% filtration rate where as k&n and Mobil 1 state 99%

I'm not sure who makes oreilleys oil but the AZ brand is coastal. Most of our shops don't bother buying oil by the quart, they can get a drum of synthetic for a rediculous price like $2 a quart. We only hot shot quarts when a shop runs short between drum shipments
