Seen too much, without the "constant connections" available today, to even comprehend a suicide now - especially at 12 yr/age!! I don't care WHAT the parent's excuse was, at that dev state, they should have been more privy to that boy's life. No excuses. Poor child and poor family - who now "has to" come to grips with the signs that they surely missed.I no longer shift gears - I switch beers. Cheers!

I have a 22 rifle that one of my parent's friend's kid tried to off himself with. It didn't kill him though, just left him mostly a vegetable."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. Aw man. RIP to the kiddo.
I'm not going to rag the parents, because WHO could think their 12 yr old son could even have those kind of thoughts?
Hopefully this terrible situation makes someone aware that even young children need to be monitored for mental health issues. In fact, the sooner you step in and help them work through their problems, the better. When the government pays, the government controls.

Not that I think there is any punishment that could be worse than losing one of our kids, but I wonder what type of trouble the parents are going to be in for leaving a weapon accessible to a minor?
I know my first child didn't know the combo to the safe at age 12...my other two kids probably won't either. The dad should've locked them up and not provide access.

It's ironic how we all talk about the damage of social media....and yet the judgment already taking place on the family in this very thread. Classy.70' Chevelle RagTop

Suicide is a more divisive subject than abortion. Kind of sad, really. Really feel bad for that family.
