I found out earlier today that our neighbor's 12-year old boy offed himself late last night or early this morning.
My daughter is very good friends with his older sister (15), who is the one that found him, and of course is also devastated. He had a twin brother too. Unfortunately the kid shot himself, and what his sister found/saw was apparently pretty awful. There has been a van from "Aftermath Services" in their driveway just about all day.
This has hit all of us pretty hard, and especially my daughter since she is so close with their family. My wife went ahead and picked her up from school early today. She told us that there is some white-trash older girl that has been picking on both of the twins for a little while now. Apparently this kid is my daughter's age (she is a freshman), but the girl was held back a couple times, so is still in middle school and riding the same bus that they do. My daughter and the older sister have both taken up for them, with this other kid, on a few occasions. Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but Kelsea is telling us that she knows he has been bullied quite a bit (both of those boys are pretty small for their age).
Nevertheless, it really sucks! This is a pretty normal family...with good parents. They've only lived in the area a little over a year too....the Dad works for GE and was relocated out here when they built the new plant over by TMS.
