A man was reportedly beaten and robbed of money and a sandwich in Waco after responding to an online escort advertisement at the Red Roof Inn on Wednesday, authorities said.
Melissa Ragsdale, 42, allegedly lured a man just after noon Wednesday into a bedroom at the hotel, 720 Martin Luther King Blvd., under the pretense of an escort service that she advertised on Craigslist, a Waco Police Department statement said.
After the victim entered, Ragsdale’s suspected accomplice, 40-year-old Chadrick Sinks, emerged from a hiding place and began beating the man, police said.
Sinks stole the victim’s money and a sandwich he had brought with him, the statement said.
The victim received minor injuries to the face before he was able to flee the room and contact police.
Ragsdale and Sinks were arrested on charges of robbery and failure to identify. They were booked into McLennan County Jail.
The two also had warrants under charges of burglary of a habitat and bail jumping from Tarrant County.
Thursday afternoon, Ragsdale’s bond totaled $55,000 and Sinks’s bond totaled $155,000.
Earlier this week, a Bellmead couple was arrested Monday under charges of committing a similar crime.
On Dec. 20, a man met a woman at her apartment after responding to an advertisement on an escort page of a website.
The victim was beaten and robbed by her boyfriend who had been hiding in a closet.
