  • Shooting at FL movie theater

Fox News Flash keeps you up to date on the news being made and opinions being given across all of Fox News’ platforms.

Two people have been shot at a movie theater in Wesley Chapel near Tampa, Florida. Shepard Smith reported that a male suspect is in custody. The theater has been evacuated.

It’s unclear at this time whether the suspect knew the two victims, who were airlifted to a local hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

Update, 3:05p ET: Fox News confirms one victim has died as a result of the shooting. The shooting happened during the previews before a showing of “Lone Survivor.” According to the Pasco County sheriff, the suspected shooter became upset when the victim's cell phone made noise during the movie. An argument between two couples ensued. The shooter pulled out a pistol and fatally shot the man and wounded the female companion.

Smith reported that a Good Samaritan inside the theater held down the suspect until police arrived.

Would have been better if he shot the original shooter in the face.

But, this is a good example of why you should shut your damn phones off during movies!

            Saying the guy was texting...sheesh...

            ...
"The victim was on his cellphone, he was texting. We believe he was making some kind of noise. This noise led to an altercation," Sheriff Chris Nocco said, according to ABC News affiliate WFTS. "During that altercation, the suspect decided to pull out a .380 and he shoots the victim."

Two people were shot at a movie theater outside of Tampa today after a suspect allegedly became angry over text-messaging during the previews ahead of the show.

I hope the shooter DID NOT have a CCW permit.

I have never once been bothered by someone texting during a movie, as long as it was on silent. What the fuck?

Civilian was an off duty cop

Shooter had apparently asked multiple times for him to stop, and even asked an employee to intervene before the shooting. Afterwards, shooter placed the gun in his lap and just sat there. 2 nurses were also there and tried to stop the bleeding before ems arrived.

                    I'm distracted by bright lights.

Sounds like the off duty cop was carrying, but they won't just say it. Also sounds like the shooter is an ex leo

Right. Don't like lights in the peripheral vision when the rest of the area is dark.

Yeah, retired Tampa Sheriff. I wonder how the left will treat this.

PSA.. if any of you ever feel the need to put hot lead into a man for texting his 3 year old daughter during the PREVIEWS of a movie, go ahead and turn the gun on yourself. it's fucktards like this that make it harder and harder for us legal gun owners to retain our rights.

I just don't go to theaters anymore unless it's a kids movie where noise from screaming kids and parents is to be expected.
