Looks like ford threw all of their engineers at the truck. That fully loaded model in the video has to book at $50k

I'm assuming quite a bit more....My 13' FX4 had a sticker price slightly over $51K.

F150's are not unibody construction. They are full frame vehicles with body attached to the frame.

Insurance premiums are going to go WAY up. Repairing aluminum cars is a BITCH to be done right. Count on 1000's of lawsuits for botched jobs on repairs.

Press release from ford claims "more dent resistant" but I think that is to sucker people in. Insurance companies are VERY aware how costly it is to repair Audi's and such. Great on the weight savings.....the execution may be a bummer.

It probably is more dent resistant. Aluminum has a much lower modulus. That's not to say it won't be costlier to fix, but if the damage is bad enough replacements are used anyways.

I think everyone is just trying to hate on what should become the norm.

Probably still going to buy a new Denali truck in a year or two, but I tip my hat to Ford for taking the aluminum plunge. That substantial of a weight savings is going to help their CAFE immensely and the pocket books of owners with noticeably better fuel economy. Truck will probably drive more easily too. The current half-ton Fords are pretty ponderous to wheel around town.

After driving one daily since November I would have to disagree with that statement. While it's certainly not nimble like a sports car (or sport sedan) I've found it to be quite a comfort out on the road....easy city driving, parking, etc. By comparison to many other trucks I've owned/driven, I certainly wouldn't classify it as ponderous or laborious.

On that term - I would have to say the egregious ass-pounding I had to take from GVF on my way to finally getting into this truck ...does that count?

10 years of doing business there, 6 vehicles and $150K+ spent...2 family referrals plus numerous friends and co-workers...none of that meant a damned thing when it came time for them to make it right...instead they used it as an opportunity to screw me....royally! Zero customer loyalty from that shithole!...I'll never do business there again, and EVERY single person I can tell will hear the story too.

Negative on the fenders, just went out in the garage, and the hood was the only panel a magnet fell off of on my 2012 Mustang.
