    Solid advice on both accounts.

I'm trying to pound through the book now so I can catch a show this weekend.

There is a lot of horseshit like this out there these days and the public just eats it the hell up. I have a friend who is a democrat that went and saw The Butler in the theater and went on this ridiculous white guilt trip on FB about it, when everything aside from "There was a black Butler that worked in the White House at one point" was completely fictionalized bullshit. It sickens me.

I'll watch LS on Netflix at some point, but I'm not going to give them any money to encourage this type of crap to continue getting made. It's one of the overriding problems with this country these days. The facts don't matter, just decide what you want the gist of the story to be and make up the rest to suit your agenda. The sad thing is that this one comes from the side I am usually on. To me, the entire thing is suspect, so I won't waste my time on "What ifs."
Idk, I listened to an interview with the guy that survived on NPR and he said the movie was pretty much just a bare bones interpretation of what happend, minus him stabbing and killing the Taliban dude at the end. (that did not happen)

I just finished the book today. there was some hard parts to get through, if it's the true story that was one hell of a go he went through.
          But I enjoyed it.

They also show that the Seal team was up against 10 men 2 of which where filming things. It's certainly not the dozens or hundreds that many are being led to believe.

Kinda reminds me of the Pat Tillman story where they portrayed him as being ambushed and killed in action. Only to have to backtrack and say he was actually killed by friendly fire.

I find it hard to believe that there were only ten Taliban (and two of them were filming) fighting against a four man SEAL team. Even with the advantage of a superior firing position, the SEAL's would have had superior tactics, training, and fire arms. I haven't seen the video yet and not sure if I will watch it, but how hard would it have been for the Taliban to make the video look like it was only ten of them fighting against the SEAL's; especially since it was filmed from there perspective. Sounds like propaganda. Just saying.

awesome movie. them jumping off the cliffs several times was kind of lame seeing as how they would have been crippled or dead after the first time.

IMO in the video you can't tell jack shit about how many people there are

Superior tactics and training don't make you bulletproof. Four seals armed with M4s with grenade launchers doesn't mean much when the opposition has the better firing position and 3PKM's.

Oh definitely, I totally agree Superior tactics and training don't make you bulletproof. But you do not think four SEAL's couldn't handle ten Taliban? And 3 PKM's for (again) ten Taliban? Sounds like the had a much larger force than that.

How much ammo does a guy take into an op like that?

Standard load out for us was 210rifle rounds and 30 pistol rds. I would guess they had somewhere around 300rifle/ 45 pistol each, at least.

Book said standard was 8, but they ALL had a bad feeling about the op, and each, independently, took 3 extra mags.

Eight was standard, but there was something about Operation Redwing. It turned out everyone felt the same. We all took three extra magazines.

I think it would be easy to overestimate the number of people involved when they have 7 Ak's, 3 PKM's, RPG's, and possibly mortars coming down at you.
