Well Pantex took what was probably the crappiest municipal water supply in the state and made it worse. Apparently dismantling nuclear weapons can be harmful to the environment. At least they haven't detonated one yet.

Reef aquariums need the most perfect water to run good so when I mix my own water I start with the purest water I can get which is this. Its cheaper and way more convenient over the long run. I do drink and cook with the water though. There are a couple of other variables involved like water pressure etc... The units will actually become inefficient with lower water pressure. You may need a boost pump if this is your case. I have like 80psi here so its all good. Under 40 and your no good. Also you will need a TDS meter (total dissolved solids) which basically measures how much shit is in your water. Decent tap water will have under 200 ppm (parts per million) I have seen peoples water as high as 800ppm (nasty). I could talk all day about this but I dont want to put anyone to sleep.

Wish I could get a well and use a similar setup but there is a landfill in my town. So its probably not worth it to even try.

I know the geologist contracted to do a lethality test on the water for Dallas county back in I wana say it was 2009. They hired him to do it, and he told them it was lethal lol. Well over say 30 years he said that it could very well kill someone. Then they hired him to run some water plant over there and he was disgusted with the way they handled it so maybe dallas has some better water these days. After learning about all that it makes me hate the tap even more

I feel bad about giving my dogs tap water if that means anything at all.

you never know what you don't know

And here I am thinking that Austin tap water tastes dee-got damn-licious, can't get enough.
I'm going to have to switch to an RO system to see what the fuss is about...

Bottled water (Nestle specifically) should be fine if they can ever get BPA's banned out of food products. I dont know what the situation is on that

What is a good water that has quality plastic that doesn't degrade and can be stored for long periods?

Your own tap water and rotate it every 6 months. Buy a couple of these:

Also, in Wal-mart, the Culigan water "service" has near the same jugs with a spigot. Just make sure they don't charge you for the water if you're buying just the jug.
