There will always be people desperate enough to commit crimes. That is something that will never change as long as there is poverty, and there will always be a lower class pushed into poverty. Shooting every criminal would only make criminals more dangerous and violent.

Not a democrat sir, but I am a rational thinker. It just seems cops like being the judge and executioner. That is scary. You shoot every criminal, you're asking for more violent crimes. Dumb shits will continue to rob, rape, and pillage no matter how many of their successors are popped. It seems this will just increase a criminals willingness to go out shooting, because he figures he's dead anyway.

Ah well, I'm glad there's one less felon around, but I fear for a rising trend in violent crimes.

I'm just not seeing how you are thinking "rationally". If you rob someone at gunpoint and flee, you take your chances. This isn't the wild west, we don't catch the bad guy and then have a shootout in the middle of Main Street to settle the differences. We are not supposed to let the bad guy turn around and take wild shots at us, possibly hitting innocents. This was a win-win situation. The bad guy went down, the good guys went home, and the innocent bystanders were unharmed. The taxpayers won't have to pay to house this scumbag, pay for his trial (and defense attorney) and then pay for his incarceration *ahem* I mean college education.....

Cop is totally justified. He was protecting innocent bystanders. Luckily, this time it was a man in a costume. If it had been a real gorilla, it may have kidnapped a woman and climbed to the top of the building. Either way, death by firearms.
