correct, but an IDI operates at such low pressures, it would take a while before the pump was damaged

sounds similar to an insurance story that I figure is passed around.
An adjuster is filling up his truck, and sees the guy on the other side of the pump pull the gasoline handle and stick it in his powerstroke's fuel tank. He then lets the guy know that he is about to pump gas, not diesel. Other guy says "mind your own goddamn business" and continues on.
Several days later, a claim comes up for an engine on a diesel truck in the same area. Looks at the paperwork, customer is claiming the gas station had an issue with the pump. He pulls his wallet out, checks the time, date and location of his fill up, and sees that this is the prick he tried to warn. Adjuster picks up the phone, calls the claimant, and tells him he needs to ask a few questions about his claim. They go over time, date, location, all the general stuff. Then he asks "do you remember if someone warned you about the mistake you were about to make? Well, that was me, and guess what, it is my business now, your claim is denied. Have a nice day. It wouldn't hurt it much, if at all. It would actually give it a good cleaning lol...as long as it is removed promptly. A newer (6.0l +) would have had a trashed fuel system, though.
A diesel pump was filled with gasoline on accident by a fuel station a while back, and we just so happened to fill our 7.3l Excursion with it. After a few miles, it got weak and sounded like a big block chevy at WOT barely limping along at 10-20mph.
We called AAA, brought it home, and drained the fuel system using the fuel pump conveniently placed in an open area underneath the truck. 6-7 5 gallon buckets later, it was up and running like a champ. It's never had a single issue since.
IDK if IDIs have a pump underneath the truck like the powerjokes, but that would have made it super easy.Last edited by crapstang; 01-09-2014, 08:23 AM.Originally posted by BuzzoSome dudes jump out of airplanes, I fuck hookers without condoms.

When I was in college, I saw a woman calling her husband from a gas station payphone (I must be old) and she was bawling her eyes out. She had taken their farm's diesel fuel tank to the station and filled it, about 300 gallons or so, with gasoline. When the government pays, the government controls.

A bit off topic but I have to ask because I've seen this several times in the past couple of months.
It's not good to keep putting kerosene and camp fuel in a 350 is it? See, I'm not a mechanic but I have told the idiot that it's a bad idea and keep getting told it's fine, he's an ASE certified master mechanic...blah blah blah.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool
