Like Real Ale out of Blanco. That's some tasty beer for $8-9 . . . and it's money for a Texas small buisness. Shiner is owned by a conglomerate or some such.

Gambrinus is based in San Antonio. They were originally an importer for Grupo Modelo but have expanded and purchased several US based beers including Shiner.

I like Real Ale... they actually have an IPA and their other beers actually have flavor.

Every Shiner offering just leaves me wishing I had purchased something else that didn't taste like a watered down version of something else.

At least Shiner Bock (while not a Bock) has a unique flavor. It's not great by any means, but it's unique and a bit of a Texas signature beer. I can drink Shiner.

Like I said, if I'm at the bar (or some gas station or grocery store in po-dunk nowhere and my choices are the big three and Shiner? I'll take Shiner every time. But if I have an option for a beer with actual flavor for similar cost? I'll pick a good beer over Shiner.

Just out of curiosity which beers do you consider good beers? Shiner Bock is as good as i've found so far. Wouldn't mind trying other's favorites to find out if there is better, or if we just have different tastes.

              So far?
you must buy all of your beer at the local gas station.
You should check out Flying Saucer, They have over 100 beers on tap and you can even try 1oz samples before you buy a pint to drink.
Personally I enjoy the darker beers such as porters and stouts, but its an acquired taste.

I like Budweiser, Shiner Bock, Dos Equis. The local pub has a bunch of off the wall and small brewery beers. I was not so fortunate last Friday night when a buddy bought me an Arrogant Bastard Ale. It comes out in a 22 ounce bottle, and I'm pretty sure it'd eat the paint off all my cars. I hope you all don't have the misfortune of having it. I did manage to drink most of it, my buddy had some, since I didn't want to waste his money.

I've had alot of beer, just somthin about Shiner Bock. My Dad and uncle in Montana have me bring them a couple cases everytime I go up there. There is alot of good beers out there, but not any that are great to drink anywhere, anytime like Shiner.

I would think that a favorite would be enjoyed all year long. Generally I like a darker beer, and I hate wheat beer. Other than that it's pretty open.

I like Shinerbock a lot. It is my go to beer when I don't feel like thinking about what I'm going to drink. That being said, I have yet to drink ANY other offering from them that I have thought was even slightly "good." I've pretty much given up trying.

Have you had Shiner Blonde? It's quite similar to Bock, but a little lighter. I believe that it was actually the origional Shiner.

Didn't like it. I generally go for darker beers. IPAs, Hefes, Lights, Pales, etc, I stay away from. Give me a Porter or a Stout.
