I grew up in North Carolina, near to where Earl Strickland is from. He's got a younger brother that looks like a twin, and he plays very well but not quite like his brother Earl. He used to come into our local pool hall and put on clinic's.
When I was in college in the 90's, I frequented a pool hall in Raleigh North Carolina that later became Johnny Archer's home base when he wasn't flying around the world playing tournaments. It's easy to see why he's been so successful in the sport if you've seen him practice and play.
Michael Coltrain ran with him but he was in the junior league, and both became world champions in their leagues in the early 90's. Last I saw of them was my last year in school, then I moved away.
There were ton's of ranking players that spent a lot of time in North Carolina in the 90's. Then there were the players that stayed under the radar but were devastating for the cash games.Last edited by jayjohnson600; 01-01-2014, 09:33 PM.Jay Johnson
