I had a optima red top last me 7 plus years. I think its still going. I sold the car it was in. After it was gone I thought, I should have kept that battery.

I had an Optima that went through 4 different vehicles before it wouldn't start a car anymore, probably 7-8 years. I still actually use it as a backup to jump my mower and 4 wheelers so really it's more like 15 years old now.

        5.5 on oem gm battery.
Icestorm we just had killed it, but it was on it's way out. 5 minutes of stereo playing with the car off would get it below the starting point.

The two Motorcrafts in my truck are almost 4 but have worried me a couple times lately.

Same here, just retired an 01 yellowtop from my 07 f150. The new ones seem to be junk though.

I've seen a factory Delco go more than 12 years. I've also seen many of them fail in less than a year.

That one was a one off.

Most car batteries can fail at anytime around 5-6 years.

I took an interstate out of service one time that had a hot stamp that dated it over 12 years. The battery case was starting to swell, otherwise the battery was still good. Interstate battery's are hard to beat. everyone would steer clear of them because of the cost, just can't understand why they cost so much, because you get what you pay for. Now you go to walmart and pay damn near 100 for a battery that was 65 just a few years ago. Optimas have doubled in price too.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Everstart, it was used when I got it from my dad in 96, and I used it in my regal into 04 I know before buying a Napa gel cell. The Napa gel cell went at least 7 years before going into an old 4 runner to be sold.
