6 years oem battery from the Mach. The heat down here in the summer really takes it's toll on them.

The original factory battery in my '00 GT lasted 10 years. Half of that time was spent in Cali so that may have helped.

I've never kept a car more than 3 years so it's hard to say. On my '57 Bel-Air I took a yellow top Optima a customer had brought in as a core, paid the $8 for it, and used it for the 3 years I owned the car.

The oldest battery I have seen by a long shot was 11 years old. Customer had a 2001 5 series BMW that he brought in and it finally let go. Most batteries you're lucky to get over 3 years in DFW due to the heat and temp swings, but the OEMs definitely last longer. That being said, I've seen plenty of OEMs fail in the 2 year range also, and same for ANY other brand out there.

I had a red top optima last 10yrs and it was in the WS6 when we sold it. That battery went through 4 vehicles and jumped off multiple cars when I was at UTI classes.

This right here. I have been buying my cars new for the last 20yrs, all Fords too (except that Volvo T-5) and they all need batteries at the 3 year mark. My 05 GT made it only two years and the 09 GT the same. I've already replaced the battery in the 5.0 too.

I've got a under 10 mile commute to work, so my battery is averaging a little over 2 years of life.

Seems by what people are posting the truck batteries that don't get heat soacked in a small engine compartment are the ones lasting the longest. Jodi's ZOhSlut has the battery in down in front of the door, so its not in the heat area.

I park outside, and have never had a garage, and my Speed3 battery made it 3.5 years before it kicked the bucket.

The mustang batteries i have to swap often, because i dont drive the car that much. Its a cycle though:

I don't drive it often because the battery problems might leave me stranded (they have) and i have battery problems because i don't drive it often.

7 years out of the OE battery in my Ford Ranger. Still strong when I replaced it, but it was leaking acid.

I have an 06' Saturn that is still on the original OEM battery. It is bulging on all sides so I am sure it is on its way out but for now its still issue free.
