I think most/all terriers have a good ratting instinct. My schnauzer/jack Russell mix has caught and eaten rats/mice in my backyard. Haven't seen any in years though. He must be doing a good job. He stalks things in the backyard like a cat then pounces

Rat terriers & Pitt bulls were bred in England. Rat terriers usually were used to kill rats on property/barns & Pitts were used in actual pits first in bullbaiting then to fight rats in the pit.

Yes, I have a head full of useless facts & knowledge. Sometimes I even remember what I've read correctly. I'm too lazy to look it back up, so if I'm wrong about the rat terriers - fuck it. I know I'm right about the Pitt bulls though.
