I do know one thing for sure: he got himself one badass attorney. DeGuerin is an old classmate of my dad's from Austin, and I can assure you he's not in this to lose. He handles mainly high profile cases...and wins.

You have to also question the wisdom in making the "no-knock" decision. There doesn't sound like that option was needed. They could have gone the conventional search warrant route.

According to the Bryan-College Station Eagle, Sowders had obtained a search warrant for the residence after obtaining information that the homeowner was growing marijuana and possibly had stolen guns. The warrant was a "no-knock" warrant, meaning police could forcibly enter the residence without giving residents a chance to respond.
Sounds like they had a solid plan...

I think the murder rap is BS, too. Did he intentionally kill someone? Debatable since in his mind it was a home invasion! I'm sure the lawyer is saying he was just trying to stop the threat. And since it was a LEO, insta-Capital charge!
