    Oh, I forgot oddest gifts.

My mom gave me a decanter and an antique hand carved duck decoy that were my dad's or heirlooms of my father's side of the family. She kept them when they divorced 27 years ago to give to me at a later date, apparently. It really didnt sit well with me, since she didnt have any right to keep them, much less "Gift" them to me.

Well, at least you got them. Could have been like many bitter ex's and just trashed them.

Craig, Tiff got that exact same safe from her Dad. Pretty cool!

I guess the "oddest" thing I get for Christmas every year is ornaments. My mom has an obsession with Hallmark ornaments to a degree that no one would believe or understand unless they saw it for themselves. A side effect to that is that she also buys them for family members. Plus, I get a lot of her older ones that she can't find room for. I have a fortune in ornaments, but never spent a dime on them, myself. It's not even 1% of what she has collected, though. It's ridiculous, but I can't help but dig it.
Leah's family does ornaments, so we do them too. I got a "camping" ornament from Leah and a old ford truck from Leah's mom. I got Leah a Minnie Mouse Hallmark ornament.

She trashed plenty of stuff, and much more was trashed by her husband. I think these were packed away somewhere, and she stumbled on them.

hell yeah setting it up was a PITA.

the slide rule is pretty neat, and works well. yeah i believe my wife spent 400 or so with a 3 yr unlimited warranty thru kays.

I have worn mine daily since getting it, so it's gotten a little beat up (mainly just the stainless on the bracelet getting "rubs"), but it is probably my favorite watch I have owned.

I just meant in the thread with all of the watches in the thousands of dollars.

Fwiw, if I recall correctly the MSRP on it was in the $600 - $700 range. I think Leah got mine for $200 - $300 a few years ago.

Did pretty good, some of the highlights include: new chimenea, nice pair of jeans, AC part for my Cougar ( bought it myself) several gift cards and a bench for the back yard made by a DFWm'er

The bad part, this thing is covered in tree sap just from the two days it was at his house before he brought it to my house.

The tree sap makes it that much more a board made bench.

That bench is so baller. It would look right at home on a gucci ass cow skin run.

I normally avoid these quips, but that one is well done. Excellent, Sir.

I didn't know the best way to address the situation, but Aaron nailed it!

Spent the holidays with my family, which is the best gift possible. Especially since today I had to take my father in for a PET scan, bone marrow biopsy, and blood work.

                          Actual gifts...

                          Few hundred in cash
                          Ron Burgandy book
Wife sent one of my watches to RSC Dallas without me knowing for service
                          Home baked goodies
                          Gift cards
                          Couple of rare 1st editions

One of the coolest gifts I've ever received is a rare, signed, first print - first edition of Catcher in the Rye
