  • Does anybody else use vacations time during the holidays?

The past few years I've used my vacation days between the paid off holidays to get a nice little 2 week vacation in. It's nice, plus we're slow as hell at work during this time period.

    How many others do this?

I used a week of PTO this year. Last year I worked the night before xmas and went straight from work to my mom's and it ended up being a 32 hour straight sorta thing. never again...lol. I enjoy some time off to get caught up, but after 4 days I am already bouncing off of the damn walls.

I have to as my customer shuts down the shop. I'm off from yesterday thru Jan 2. Luckily we get 4.5 wks, plus floats and holidays, so it's not that bad. It'd be better if it was warm enough to enjoy the pool. Oh well.

At my company we can use our holidays as floating, even the ones that don't float(with approval).
So, I can use them on the day that I choose within reason. usually within a month.

When holidays are close enough, I can lump them together and add in some vacation days and take a week PTO.

At this moment, I have 2 weeks of vacation remaining for 2013, and I can carry them over until the end of March 2014.
With this accrued PTO(and adding in holidays) I'm organizing a ski trip condo-share for February.

I'm organizing another Ski trip cond-share in Keystone Colorado for February. Anyone interested, please send me a PM. The condo weeks are Saturday to Saturday. I'm looking at a 3bed 2.5bath ~1100sqft condo 50yards from the shuttle stop, W/D in the condo, full kitchen, gas fireplace. I've been lucky enough to get a line on

I have 4 weeks plus 2 floaters to use every year. I always take the week of Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas off, but they give us two days for each Holiday, so it only ends up costing me 6 days for both weeks.

I take the last two weeks of the year off to spend with the kids and wife every year.. Work shuts down the week of Christmas and it's slow as hell the week after. Pretty sure the boss forced the others to take it off anyways this year.

I'm usually off the week preceding Christmas, and the week between Christmas and 1/1. I'm way too busy this year. I'm even working tomorrow, probably some of Christmas day, and 12/31 and 1/1 too.

I usually use some vacation during the holidays but burned up all my time this year. At least we get the 24th and 25th off.

21 days off starting day after Christmas. I am taking them all unpaid and saving my 350+hrs of PTO for when I quit. They can pay me out in a nice check.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

350+ hours of PTO will give you a nice cushion to transition to the next gig. Nailed something down yet that keeps you stateside?
