Buying $1000 in coins from the mint, and then depositing them into my bank, then paying CC.

They ship the coins overnight for free. Easy, FREE way of racking up $10,000 quickly to earn my 100K miles. They only let you order $1K in coins every 10 days though.

Thanks for the reply, but I figured it out not too long after I posted my question. And the link to the mint's site helped.

I think I'm gonna have to tackle this one. The coins are a great idea for meeting the criteria - thanks for the tip!

I read that some credit cards don't give points for purchasing those coins, could this be true?

I wouldn't think so, I'll know for sure when I get my first statement.

Looked in this thread and then realized I work for American Eagle which is owened by the same company as AA. Flying for free without the card. And no I don't have any buddy passes yet. Got a year and a half for that.
Why put off till tomorrow what you can put off till the next day?

I thought you were supposed to recieve 75K Miles? That's even what the Citibank Rep told me after I recieved my card when I called them.

I signed up for the 100K mile card. I get 50K miles when I charge my first $750, and another 50K miles when I charge $10K in the first 12 months.

                        Badass!

I'm right in the middle of a refinance and I have to report any new credit, so I'm going to wait a couple of weeks until that's all finalized before I apply for a card.

Not a bad idea.. Where is the miles schedule for what you can buy? How far does 100k miles go?

nevermind...I found it. 100,000 miles you can go business class to South America round trip via Saver.. peak time is one way, or a couple of round trip tickets within the US. I might have to go for it. Especially with the mint trick.

Amazon payments seems even easier. I can sign the woman and I up and just send money back and forth and easily meet the $10k minimum. Its also doesnt cost a dime. From Amazon: 5. Is there a fee for using Amazon WebPay?
No, there is no charge to send money using Amazon WebPay.
