Last year my buddy had severe brain damage also. He had to read to learn everything is well. They made a good recovery he changed as expected but he's well. That's why you got to keep up the hope. Tell him not to give up.

The worst was not being able to drive for 6 months to a year. I did get a wicked scar out if it though, a nice thick scar going from ear to ear. Good vibes sent to your friend for a good steady recovery.
Same thing here. Your brain will rewrite and rewire itself fairly quick. It's just annoying and I lost some fine motor control as well.

Her mom passed away this week, so I have given them some distance.
Damn. Could their Christmas be any shittier? I feel terrible for them. Positive thoughts going out to them.

Well, thought I would post an update

He's been back home for a week or two, and in pretty good shape. He didnt lose any metal abilities, but his balance is off, and he is doing physical therapy everyday in Plano. There is a shuttle that picks him up, and drops him off, so his wife is dropping him off at the pickup and dropoff point daily. His face is partially paralyzed and drooping some, and he has to wear an eye patch. He ended up with a scratch on his eyeball because it dried out while he was in surgery/induced coma after. I havent been over to see him, apparently he is a bit shy because of his face droop.

He's walking well, but since his balance is off, he has to use a walker or only take little short steps. He also said he's got some issue with hand/arm control if he extends it far out. Overall he's doing great, and is already talking about racing again. That is very refreshing, since he was starting to do the "I may never do anything again" talk leading up to the surgery. His speech wasnt affected, but the droop is in his lips, so he sounds a bit funny still. Doctors said he was doing very well, and should recover fully.

Thanks to everyone who kept him and his family in their thoughts.

                  Great news DJ.

Once the he gets done with the PT/PR and his muscles get stronger, he will feel a lot better about himself. He will also see people that are worse off than him and this will help motivate him as well...

Real sorry to hear of this DJ, but glad to also see that things are seemingly progressing too.

Is this one of the guys I met?
