Here's a guy that grew up in a shack without running water...in the '50's! He's a rare bird that money just hasn't changed much. I think he'd be just as happy going back to that shack. Therefore, he's going to say whatever he wants to say, A&E be damned. From what I read, he's never cared for the show anyway, and the kids talked him into it.

I have not watched 10 seconds of that show, and for whatever reason, have no intention on ever watching it.

I don't get the show and have never watched it but I will now. We need more people who aren't afraid to speak their mind in this country, no matter what their opinion is.

I watched it up until this season when it became a platform for in episode commercials i.e. Jerky and Rollo's. But I think he has a right to say how he feels and let the chips fall where they may. Personally I respect him not for his beliefs but for having the guts to state them in public when he knows the potential backlash.

Never watched the show but it seems like what he said is just some guy's opinion that as a citizen of a country that values the freedom of speech, he is allowed to have. So he offended like 1% of the global population by saying that he disagreed with their lifestyle choices, who gives a damn? It doesn't look like he said anyone was a bad person or condemned them to hell like many hardcore Christian people do.

I'm sure there is something in his contract about public speaking. Just like Hank Williams jr. and Paula Dean got fucked around in this fucked up PC world we live in.

If you can't watch that show and laugh, there is something wrong with you. Even if you don't have anything in common with them, it's still hilarious. Do you know how many shows I can sit down and watch with my kids? Very few. Even a lot of the cartoons on the kids channels are not age appropriate.

A&E brought Dog back after calling someone a ninja, but this is unacceptable? Come on.... Like I said in a thread yesterday, this world was a better place to live in before people started thinking everyone cares if they are offended.

I'll bet you there's not, there's no way he'd have done the show if he couldn't speak his mind, and there's been evidence of that throughout the history of the show. For example, A&E didn't want to end the show with the family around the table praying before they eat and Phil said that if they were just going to edit that part out then they were waisting time filming because that's been a big part of who they are as a family. If they didn't have that in the show then there was no show.

We live in the United States of the Offended.

Im sure he knew that A&E would be unhappy unhappy unhappy that he said what he said, but I doubt he cares. He expressed his opinion based on his religious beliefs, and also that he wasnt the one to judge it. Personally, I dont share his opinion, but I stand behind the guy for standing up for his beliefs; even if they arent popular or PC. I may have to go buy a T-shirt with his face all over it, its hard to trip and fall in a wallmart without hitting one on the way down.

it’s that entitlement, everyone wants to feel important and to be a part of something. I find it funny that this world was found on freedom from religious persecution and here we are, persecuting a man for his beliefs. Not the first time, and certainly not the last.

This country is being overrun by hypocrites and people who are just as happy to push their beliefs on you as they are to bitch about you when you do the same.

I didn't realize Phil has a masters degree. He was the starting QB at Louisiana Tech for two seasons while Terry Bradshaw was on the bench.

He knew what questions were going to come up and probably had a pretty good idea what the outcome be.
