I missed most of the story, but it said that a specific person knew that the shooter was coming after him personally, so he left the school grounds earlier, and when the shooter found out about it/couldn't find him, he shot the two victims at random.

Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with the gunman, described him as a very opinionated Socialist. "He was exuberant I guess," Conrad told*The Denver Post.

"He had very strong beliefs about gun laws and stuff," junior Abbey Skoda, who was in a class with the alleged shooter in her freshman year, told*The Denver Post*.

In one Facebook post, Pierson attacks the philosophies of economist Adam Smith, who through his invisible-hand theory pushed the notion that the free market was self-regulating. In another post, he describes himself as "Keynesian."
"I was wondering to all the neoclassicals and neoliberals, why isn't the market correcting itself?" he wrote. "If the invisible hand is so strong, shouldn't it be able to overpower regulations?"

Pierson also appears to mock Republicans on another Facebook post, writing "you republicans are so cute" and posting an image that reads: "The Republican Party: Health Care: Let 'em Die, Climate Change: Let 'em Die, Gun Violence: Let 'em Die, Women's Rights: Let 'em Die, More War: Let 'em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?"Carl Schmidt and Brendon Mendelson, both seniors at Arapahoe High, knew Pierson. They said he had political views that were "outside the mainstream," but they did not elaborate.

On December 13, 2013, 18-year-old Arapahoe High School student Karl Pierson entered his school armed with a shotgun, a machete, and molotov cocktails intending on killing his former debate coach and possibly others. After firing three shots down a hallway and injuring one of his classmates, Pierson killed himself in a classroom. Today it was revealed why he did this: a "good guy" with a gun had him cornered.

Fox News reports:

When an armed school resource officer entered the room, Pierson believed he was cornered and turned his gun on himself, Robinson said. The entire attack lasted approximately 80 seconds and was captured by security cameras.
Wow.

A janitor informed Pierson's former debate coach to flee the school after he saw Pierson was armed with a gun, likely saving his life.

Investigators have said that they believe Pierson was planning a large-scale attack at the school due to the amount of ammunition he was caring. Claire Davis, the student wounded in the attack, remains in a coma.

Good guys with guns save lives. I shudder to think what would have happened had the resource officer not intervened.

Claire Davis died

A statement from the Davis family

It is with unspeakable sadness that we write and say that Claire has passed away from the gunshot wound she received at Arapahoe High School on December 13, 2013. Although we have lost our precious daughter, we will always be grateful for the indelible journey she took us on over the last 17 years—we were truly blessed to be Claire's parents. The grace, laughter and light she brought to this world will not be extinguished by her death; to the contrary, it will only get stronger.

Last week was truly a paradox in that we lost our daughter, yet we witnessed the wonderful love that exists in the world through the tremendous outpouring of support we received. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank the first responders, the school resource officer, security guard and vice principal at Arapahoe High School, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's office, and the physicians, nurses and staff at Littleton Adventist Hospital. Each played a significant role in giving Claire a chance to live, and demonstrated extreme amounts of professionalism, courage and love. Please know that we will never forget the extraordinary work you did on Claire's behalf.

We ask that you give us time to grieve the death of our daughter by respecting our wishes for privacy.

I saw that yesterday, so sad.

There is a wave of people that are going around trying to scrub away this guys liberalism. When you read a story online about this shooting that has a comments section, there are hundreds of people that constantly spam posts about him being in the Tea Party or a conservative. It is actually disturbing how far they are going to hide the fact that he was a liberal.
