Hell the pizza guy royally fucked up my order a few hours ago and i still tossed him 8 on a 15 check. I just don't think motherfuckers expecting a tip for doing the job they signed up for should be rewarded. the fucking mailman doesn't deserve a tip for getting my mail to the box on a daily basis, thats his job. I don't get tipped for doing my job, and it's a fuckton more important than a parking lot attendant, fry cook, barista, or any other nonsense.. but since they chose the shit job they deserve a tip? not how I see it.

however, a fucking + on spelling yarmulke right!
Upon further review of your expanded explanation, I hereby retract my humorously subtle racial slur

I work for what I earn, my tip is at the end of each finished job, my commission. If a customer feels like tipping me, I generally decline and state "I did the job I was supposed to", if they insist then I'll accept it. As far as tipping goes, I tip a waiter/waitress based on performance. I give newbies slack and will usually tip them a little extra if I can tell they are trying but just haven't learned the ropes, figuring someone stiffed em because they were a little slow or fumbled something up. I'm pretty easy to please and get along with, you have to screw up something fierce to shafted. Now the sonic girls usually don't get tipped much, they don't earn normal waiter/waitress wages. Not sure if it's changed, but our local mail people make pretty dang good money, at least in my book. I don't have the baller status and income that some of our forum guys have.

My garbage guys (2) ($20 ea)
                  Paper carrier ($20)
                  Mail carrier ($20)
Young lady that cuts my hair ($25 on top of her normal fee)
The server that we request at our neighborhood restaurant ($25 on top of his tip)

I can't tell you how much that $20 bill means to our garbage men. They'll haul off anything I can get to the curb. I kind of see it as taking care of those that take care of me.

This, I do with a lot of my customers, not in tipping, but in the repair I provide them. Being in a small town, most of my repairs are for repeat customers or from referrals from existing customers. I try to go above expectations and the favor gets returned a lot of times when I need something from them.

I tip the garbage guys and give them a bottle of rum.
Never had a problem with anything I put out being left by them.

I installed a guys internet and phone service today and he asked if he should tip me. I told him no, so he didn't try to. I dont think he has been in the country long, and just wasn't sure if he should.

I'm always tipping 20% for the wait staff and a few buck for the pizza guy...never thought about tipping the garbage guys or mailman...I never see them though.

The wife and I have been thinking of hitting up IHOP or waffle house on Christmas Eve or day and leaving a huge tip....hoping they're friendly and earn it. Would it be better to leave cash or just add it to the credit card? I think some places make them split it between the cooks and bus boys too. I kind of want it all going to the waitress.

Cash, don't have to claim the taxes. Tip out (split to bar, bus, etc) is based on sales, not tips. When someone stiffs a server, the the server actually pays to wait on that table.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
