was outside my job facing north-northwest towards love field and there was the quick vertical streak of bright white that started low and quickly 'burned out' right before it got to land. right before as in if it was still bright for another moment i would have not seen the end of it. weird it was only a half a second to a second at most but i just so happened to be looking in the right direction at the right time. wish these damn cameras at my job worked!

I've seen one in daylight before like you describe. They say we are bombarded by them constantly, we just rarely see them make it to the surface before they have burned up.

If you ever want to see them, go to the NASA site and see when the best day, and get away from city lights. The Persied(?) meteor shower in August from West Texas near McDonald observatory is awesome. To keep from getting a neck ache, bring a lounge chair.
