I don't know about the new Chevy's, but just about any of the optioned up 2010 and up F-150 crew cabs is nicer than any 5 year old sedan I've been in (save for a high end luxury).

From what I have seen, to stay in my budget, I am looking at base model trucks. The higher trim (texas edition) are out of my price range with decent mileage on them.

I love our 2013, but I actually liked my 07 better. Both have been crew cabs and have been spacious enough for our 2 going on 3 kids next week, but of course I have never had tonride back there and complain about leg room. I may be the only person on earth who actually likes the Chevy interior though.

Congratulations on the addition! Was the 07 a classic (older body style with the pointed head lights)? What did you like better? I just came across this

If you don't care about it being a stripped-down single cab, I see 2008-2009 long bed plain white "work trucks" all the time with under 100k for under $10k.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

My requirements are power windows and locks, short bed, V8. Other than that I am pretty open. As the price goes up, I get a little pickier. If I am reaching the upper limit of the payment I am willing to make a month, I want something better than chrome steel wheels, lol. A cheaper single cab, I can pick up some decent factory wheels in no time with a cheap payment.

I wanted a single cab too. Ended up getting a extended.

Now 6 months later i really wish i would have just got the crew cab.

If I find the right deal in my price range, I plan to try and jump on it. Though right now the best options as far as mileage and price are X-cab and single cabs.

Also, a note on the power, I have been driving a single cab 5 speed 4 cylinder S-10 for the better part of 10 years, and before that it was a civic. I am used to under powered, though it would be nice to have the get up and go to not get ran over getting on the interstate.

This one guy I knew that had a 5.3 once said it was the most awesomist powerfulest quickest truck he had ever driven. His mom even agreed.

                        2wd or 4wd?

I paid 18 for my 2008 4wd xtended cab with 65k. I really enjoy the truck esp the auto start haha.

2wd. No need for 4wd. Its not a deal breaker if I find a great deal on a 4wd. Mainly thinking that it will have a negative effect on fuel mileage.

Is anyone here in the auto finance side of things that can give me some guidance. My two main concerns are the length of time at my current employer mixed with the negative info still on my credit reports.

The 5.3 is plenty powerful, well in my 2002 ext cab.

I know of a super clean top of the line '10 Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3l 6spd extended cab short bed. Black on black, with all of the bells and whistles. I think he's at 11k obo, but it does have just under 100k on it.

I have a feeling I will have trouble financing a private sale. My credit is still on the rough side
