No plans to race or go fast. I do travel the interstate at 80-85 mph. It could see an occasional car hauler or pop up camper duty

      I'm willing to bet my ecoboost will outrun/out tow a 6.2 or a 5.3

Watch this video of the brand new 6.2 Silverado. Now, in the real world the 6.2 driver would shift to manual mode and lock out 3rd gear on the climb to stay in 2nd and motor right up the grade beating the Ecoboost time. That said, the Ecoboost did well on the climb based on what these guys said because it chose the gears better and obviously has some solid torque.

Regarding the prior gen 6.2, it'd probably be a good run with the Ecoboost, not sure who would win a tow contest. I had an '08 Yukon Denali and the 6.2 is sweet engine.

That said, the 6.2 sounds WORLD'S better than the bland exhaust note of the Ecoboost, though the turbo whistle is kind of cool.

Anyway, listen that that new Ecotec 6.2 engine sing in the above video. Sounds glorious. When my CTS-V Corporate lease is up, it is highly likely I'll be going to a new Sierra Denali or High Country Silverado, especially if they can hurry and get the 8-speed 8L90 automatic in the trucks.

I picked up a ram 1500 crew cab, hemi, big horn for $18000. 26k miles, seats 6 people, has good power and torque. I couldn't be happier

I like the whistle of the Ecooboooooost.

But, the stock exhaust on my 6.2 cracks me up... When I've started it from the kitchen on the last few cold mornings it shakes the stuff in the cabinets... Sounds great for what it is.

I went with the ecoboost for how quiet it is cruising around... Roll into it some then you just get turbo, really hammer on it and it just sounds like an angry vacuum cleaner lol. Still a great motor...

( http://www.TFLtruck.com ) What half ton pickup truck is the towing king of the world? This time we've upped the ante and we go all in with 10,000 pounds of...

I agree with the 6.2 sound is incredible. Our Escalade has the 6.2 and it roars even just starting up, not to mention when you get on it. It sounds like it has a Magnaflow from the factory.

I am not a big fan of Dodge, when I was selling them 5-6 years ago the interior quality was severely lacking compared to Ford and GM and fuel mileage always seemed to be significantly less

But for how long? The LS engines are proven to outlive the truck. Im still suspect about a car engine in a truck long term.

They have really stepped their game up in the nnbs.

Have you heard about the 1/2 ton diesel? (dodge) -
I want one!! Only downside is the cost of diesel, you can go with the ecoboost and buy reg gas..

Fwiw, gearing makes a big difference on the 5.3 rigs. Back around 06 I worked for the chevy dealer down here and GM had a big sale going on where myself and several other guys working there bought new z71s. I got an extended cab z71 and at the time they only came with 3.42 gears. The other guys all got crew cabs and they came with 3.73's. Mine was constantly kicking in and out of overdrive and it felt like it couldn't pull a string out of a cows ass, but their 3.73 rigs ran really well. I left before the 07 body style came out, but from what I understand their gearing options were the same. I'd get a crew cab just to avoid the 3.42's honestly.
