    Dr. Mace... She graduated from A&M and has been with VCA. She performed 2 complicated hip surgeries on my Italian greyhound who was born without hip joints. Saved her life.

      Thank you very much for your replies and concerns. Since we couldn't get him stitched up initially, his wounds are healing from the inside out. He did a round of antibiotics and I don't think he's infected. Hopefully we will be able to get him back to the vet tomorrow and have him checked out.

      One concern is that he still oozes from the puncture marks occasionally, but it doesn't seem to be white liquid or pus, just a little red blood and some clear fluid. I've been keeping them open to the air and sponging him with a warm cloth, and keeping a lampshade thing on him to keep him from chewing on himself and licking...... (he's obsessed with licking up any drainage he can find). Other than that he's going on walks and getting back to his old self.. he doesn't understand what all the fuss is!
