    The only problem with running diesel would be the smell, but damn would it be tempting.

              I think from a cost perspective, farm diesel or kerosene is the way to go, unless you want to get into the whole waste vegetable oil thing. It's super cheap, but it makes whatever space you're heating smell like a fryolator, and it's a pain in the dick.

                  We have propane fire logs in the house, I pay 2.69/gal (or lb??) but the tank will last me 16 days straight @ 35000 btu. They auto fill and bill me so it's pretty easy.. Only thing I don't like is its ventless so sometimes when I get home it smells like a BBQ. Could be worse.

                        I think market price here on propane is 2.99, a ton of people use it for heating and appliances up here. I'm actually surprised its that cheap over there.

                            Today's ULSD is actually works pretty good in those heaters pretty damn close to K1. They key is to get some fresh air into the heater.
