An Arlington head shop clerk is facing murder charges after allegedly gunning down a suspected shoplifter on Tuesday.
Police arrived at Smoking Dragon Gifts in the 5900 block of South Cooper Street just before 11 a.m. Tuesday to find Jonathan Brian Lambert, 28, and another employee holding two other men at gunpoint, according to WFAA. When the men tried to flee, police say that Lambert opened fire.
"Glass broke, and then I heard two gunshots, and I went and looked out the window and saw the guy that was working here aiming the gun at the getaway car and the guy that was shot leaning against the car on the ground," Amber Floyd, who was working next door, tells CBS 11 in the video below.
The shooting victim, who has not yet been identified, died, and Lambert was taken into custody.
Arlington police haven't revealed much about what they think led up to the shooting, but the smoke shop's owner told CBS 11 that she watched the surveillance video from her home. She said the two men weren't shoplifters but robbers, and that there had been a scuffle at the cash register before the guns were pulled.
