Sunday morning around 3:30AM, two Ford trucks drove by my house presumably scouting out the area. About 5 minutes later, one of the trucks came pulling back up to my neighbor's yard with the head lights off. It parks and a guy gets out slowly making his way down to my 2000 Ford F350. He punches the door lock in and is then able to unlock the door somehow. At one point he walks back to the truck that they drove up in and then back down to my truck. It is after this that he gets into my truck.
From what I can see, he laid across the seat while working on the ignition trying to start the truck. In all he spends nearly 13 minutes screwing with the ignition before giving up. Before he leaves he cleans out the center console and glove box. Luckily he didn't get anything of any real value, but he came damn close to stealing my truck! I went out with a screw driver after the cop finishing dusting and with one good pop of my hand on the screw driver in the ignition I was able to start the truck.
I have cameras on my house, but obviously it was a waste. I got pictures of the two trucks, but there isn't really anything concrete. The images of the guy are very hard to make out so you can't make out any details about him either. I'm really pissed that I wasn't able to catch them in the act. It doesn't appear that they came by before, at least in the same vehicles, or since they attempted. I'm hoping they come back b/c now I'll be waiting!
If you have a 99-07 F250/F350, then be careful! This happened in north Arlington over the weekend and I bet they keep going on for a while! We had a vehicle stolen last month one street over so they are out and about right now. I only have to deal with replacing a door handle and ignition switch, so for that I feel blessed.
BTW, I do have the videos from my DVR if someone would like to host them.
