  • Tips for SELLING on ebay?

I'm getting to the point I have collected quite a bit of very collectible antique tools among some other things and looking to sell possibly on ebay and was curious on tips for protecting myself from scammers. I know insurance, tracking numbers, no MO's unless they have had a couple of weeks to clear. What else? What disclaimers are even worth putting in an ad? Tips?

What about other auction sites? Are there others doing well?

If you take money orders, I'd only take USPS money orders.

        LOL, well played!

accept paypal or US Postal money order... you can cash the MO at the post office to verify legitimacy.

something to consider... depending on what you're selling, it may be easier to sell FTF for cash on Craigslist.... between ebay and paypal fees, you're going to be giving almost 15% to ebay

Take good pictures. You can ship USPS Priority Mail flat rate boxes cheap no matter what the package weighs. Two to three day delivery with delivery confirmation. Only sell in the lower 48 states. To much hassle to ship world wide.Accept Pay-Pal, even with the fee that is charged. If people have negative or no feedback beware. Give a honest description of the item your selling. If it will take three days to get the item shipped, be sure to mark that on your listing. State clearly if you accept returns, and the time frame.

Set your auction up to end on a Wednesday at 9PM CST. Ebay's live user traffic typically peaks near this. It has always worked well for me.

Yep, and never have your auctions end on Friday's or Saturday's! I'd recommend always shipping your items with delivery confirmation especially with paypal in case a dispute arises.
