  • Just a little JFK history

50 years ago today, my dad was a young Dallas police officer working at Market Hall waiting for the president to arrive when he heard the call going out over the radio that the president had been shot. Also, a few days before this he was tasked with going through downtown taking fliers off of cars that had a picture of Kennedy that read "wanted for treason" and giving an explanation. He folded one up and kept it but dropped the others off at the station. He said those disappeared almost immediately. Anyways, I think it's cool he that he was able to hear it all go down live over the police radio, and is still alive to tell his story. Oh and FTP and TL/DR.

Anyone else's parents speak of how this martyred him?

If you read now, it appears he was well liked and such, when many appear to remember a young arrogant moron that nearly got us into a nuclear war with Russia.

                    Just a little JFK history

My grandfather was a Dallas Police officer on the scene when the shooting took place. I still have his notes and affidavit of witnesses he spoke with. Best section is mention of an individual who was filming the parade when he heard two shots ring out. Shortly later two unidentified men approached him an took his camera. No names mentioned and saw nothing else.

Eisenhower had a lot more to do with escalating tensions with Russia than Kennedy did. And Johnson had a lot more to do with civil rights legislation than Kennedy did.

Yet somehow Kennedy has received excessive blame for the former and credit for the latter.

He does. He has never seen another until one showed up on Pawn Stars a few years ago.
