  • Canon SX50

Anyone have any experience with this camera? Been wanting to get a decent camera for some time. I really don't know much about cameras so any input would be great.

    Thanks!

Had mine for about 3 months. I got it at Best Buy for $369. This is the 4th SX-series camera I've had, and this is the best so far. The only thing I don't like...fuck you Canon, for going away from AA batteries.
Other than that, it takes great pictures easily.

Here's an example. Taken quickly from about 75 feet away...

Very well. The macro setting are excellent.

The one it comes with. It was at about the 150mm equivalent setting. It has an equivalency range of 24mm to 1200mm.

How does this compare to the Nikon 1 J2?

The Nikon may do a few things better, or that the Canon doesn't. But overall, the Canon is much more camera for the money. For more than 30mm zoom, the Nikon is going to cost you. Easily 95% of the pictures I take need more than 30mm zoom. That's just one thing.

Thanks for the help! Was planning on just buying a point & shoot camera for about $200 or so but think this will be a better option for me.
