  • Powdercoat or spraypaint??

    Just asking some opinions here.

I pulled this wall locker off the side of the road a while back and I'm finally getting around to doing something with it. I want to strip and either paint or powder coat it. I'm thinking I want it flat black. I'm thinking of trimming the interior in walnut plywood with a mini fridge in the bottom (it's big enough) and coat rack above it or perhaps just making the entire thing into a minibar. I would also put one of these Ford emblems on the front with a door handle like one off an old Mustang.

I started stripping it with a grinder and wire brush but I'll just go ahead and have it media blasted. Blasting and powder coating will run about $200.

Any thoughts guys? I'm open to trying something else if anyone comes up with a good idea.

How much use and how long are you planning on keeping it? High use and long ownership I'd go with powdercoat

          Have you considered plastidip?

Could probably just coat it in bedliner just as easy.

Plastidip is what all the cool kids are doing. At least all the DFWM ballers.

Powercoating is getting pretty affordable. I had a top box (toolbox) done for like $40.

They have "hammered" finish powdercoating. That's what Id do.

BTW, some good thoughts in here guys. I had not even thought about some of those other finishes. I'm still leaning towards a powder coat. Racrguy correctly points out that I'd like to keep it for a while.. Thanks for the suggestions.
