A buddy killed himself tonight.

Well i just got word that a buddy i work closely with killed himself tonight.

I worked with him for almost 3 years now and I'm sitting around a silent dinner table (at work) with guys who have worked with him for 10+ years. He was in his 60's but looked and acted like he was in his 40's. Always a stand up good hearted real guy. I don't think I've ever seen the guy mad one time.

24 hours ago exactly he was sitting right in front of me and i had no idea what was going through his head.

I'm not sure this is related, but, i know there is a lot of stress that goes with this time of the year. There are always people to talk to and always people that care. More than you think. You would be surprised! Talk to somebody if you're having issues.

I am so grateful this is a great time of year for me and i wish all you guys the same. Had to get that off my chest while sitting here at our dinner table watching football.

Seasonal depression is quite real as well. As "happy" as this time of year usually is for me externally, I always tend to get a little bummed with the shorter days and cold weather. This may or may not have had a factor, just my $0.02.

I just spent the last hour or so reading through a thread in Canada about someone who committed suicide by cop in 2007. Somehow I missed the thread back then. The worst part was seeing posts by a friend who we lost to the same sort of thing more recently. Then I come back here to see this thread. These situations just seem so tragic.

Yup. The smallest things can make a difference too.

The sun going down early gets me to bed at a decent time, but other than that I am not a fan of the dark short days
