I hope you stay on the right path this time. I can't believe you can share things like this and brush it off as something to laugh at. I would be completely ashamed.

Being completely honest with yourself about who you are and what you have done is integral to long-term recovery. Playing off and/or completely dismissing character flaws and poor decisions is a fast-track to once again thinking that old behavior "wasn't that bad," which opens the door to thinking it's okay to go there again. Quite frankly, the more embarrassing the stories are, the easier it is to recognize, and not ignore the problem.

Thanks guys. I really am not looking for attention, and the things I did were really quite sad, in fact if I were to tell my stories to my religious family, I believe I would get a rather stoic reaction (oxymoron?). But, I can sit in a room of clean dope fiends and we can all crack each other up about some of the crazy shit we did and then get to some solutions about how to clean up the past and learn from it.

Hell, my sponsor lost 3 cars, 2 of them he never found, 1 was totaled with him in it. When he told me HIS car stories, dude I was rolling on the floor....

Him and his girl split a gram of tar heroin and swallowed 3 Xanax Bars each, then went in the grocery store to get some food so they could chill out for the next day in a half... he told me he kept urging his girl to hurry the fuck up cuz the Xanax was about to come on...... then he got pissed when he found her nodding out on the ice cream isle, told her to hurry the fuck up, then went outside to her car to wait and listen to the radio..

Next thing he knows he's got AIRBAG in the face and the telephone pole is leaning at a 45 degree angle..... and he is miles from home. Cops let him off with just a trip to the ambulance cuz his head was bleeding.

He also woke up walking in Stop Six with no car keys and no recollection of where the car was. That one showed up in the pound 6 months later but he never got it back.

Yeah, we do some fucked up stuff. I really never meant to do some of the things I did. I intended 3 times to get off the stuff that had a hold of me by taking Benzos (Ativan, Xanax), Ambien, and muscle relaxers, but each time, something went horribly wrong, I blacked out for days, and wound up in a mess!

I share cuz you guys are somewhat family and I have a few friends on here, and maybe someone else is hurting and can relate.

I will never give up. I don't have to succumb to this disease, and we DO recover!
