Need some help here. I have indian (dot not the feather) neighbors who live above me and they're obnoxiously loud in multiple ways. First being that they have a 3 year old who doesn't receive any discipline. I've seen this first hand and they let the kid do whatever he wants. He runs around at all hours of the night making noise. Now I have a nephew who's 4 and he's not nearly as loud as this kid is. Second, the parents don't know how to walk properly, they're very heavy footed.
I started off talking to the husband and telling him how loud he is and asked him to keep it down after 9PM, he says no problem and he'll keep the kid quiet. That doesn't sound unreasonable, right? After a couple weeks of no change, I went back up to ask him again, to which he said he'd control his kid. Still no change so I get the complex manager involved and she said she wants to hear it. She comes over for about an hour one day to hear what we put up with and she says it's obvious there's an issue with the sub flooring. 4 days later the sub flooring is supposedly fixed and we shouldn't hear the people up stairs. Guess what, I hear no difference, and they're still loud.
The complex manager wants more proof of how loud they are and asked us to record it. So here's the problem I face, most microphones don't pick up background noise very well, something has to be a certain decible to be picked up. I'd need some high end mic to pick up the low end range of footsteps coming from through the floor above.
I'm at the point to where I'm pretty fed up and my anger level just increases every time I go up there to tell the guy to keep it down.
Does anyone have access to anything like this? Any suggestions?
