  • Craigslist reply from seller. Scam? Sketchy?

    "Hello,

Thank you for your interest in buying the 2004 truck that I have for sale. The price that I'm asking is $2.300. You have below some details about it:

    Mileage: 73,421 miles
    Transmission: Automatic
    Vehicle title: Clear
    Engine: 4.0L

I'm selling the truck because my 22's years old son died 3 months ago in a car accident. A drunk driver hit him and his fiancé. They were with her car on their way to his little brother's birthday. It was his truck and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it as soon as possible. Please let me know if you are interested and where are you located. Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Barbara."

Meh, any 2004 truck with under 100k miles is going to go for much more than $2,300.

I got a reply kind of like this on cl once when I inquired about a guitar for sale. There we?e no giant red flags but something just seemed weird. It turned out that the lady that posted it was most definitely not an internet person.

I say keep communicating and see what happens. They could just be trying to sound formal, but doing a bad job at it.

You haven't seen what our line crews can do to a truck lol, I've got an 07 in the yard you wouldn't want to give a $1000 for.

If you have to question if it may be a scam, it is a scam.

"22's years old" sounds so Eastern European.
