  • Had plans to watch a movie, end up buying a house?

For those that don't know, my Wife and I just recently found out she was pregnant with my 3rd, her 1st, child. My MIL, lives in Aubrey and wants to watch the baby full time, at no charge, which will save us $$Choo$$ $$Choo$$ money in the long run.

So, we know we are going to move closer that direction when our lease is up at our apartment in Lewisville. While getting ready to go see a movie on Satureday morning, we start talking about houses and a new division opeing up in Crossroads, where we had previously looked to buy a used house and had a not so great experience. So we decide to drive over there before we go to a movie, just to look and see what's available.

Within 20 mins we wrote a check for a deposit to hold a corner lot while we looked at model homes and such. Good thing we wrote the deposit check, as no sooner than my wife signed the check, a realtor came in with a couple who also wanted that lot.

We decide to take the morgage application with us when we left and discuss further. We ended up filling out the application, picking a floorplan, and turning the application in on our way home around 1:00pm. At 4:30 we received a call saying we were pre-approved and scheduled an appointment on Sunday morning to come back and sign contract to build.

We ended up changing our mind on the floorplan by Sunday so they had to re-do all paperwork, but it was worth it. Picked out our Stone, Brick, Trim Colors, and a few other options and signed the 65 page contract to build. Estimated completion and close is June 3, 2014. It will be a 1-story, 4 bed 2 bath with study, a large kitchen for sammich makin', and the biggest lot in the division so plenty of yard for the kids.

This is my first house, wife's second, and I am very excited for what lies ahead!

Just thought I would share some good news in the sea of bad news on here lately.

Cliffnotes: Wife is pregnant, instead of watching a movie this past weekend, wife and I put a depost on a corner lot in a new housing division and ended up signing a contract to build a house.

Congrats man. You will like owning a home vs. living in an apartment, trust me.

congrats man! That seemed like a pretty quick and painless process. It's been like pulling teeth for us to even start.

Cross Oaks is building a lot of new stuff right now. I'm just a few blocks away from there too.

                      Congrats!

                              Yes, the newer Lennar division.

                              Anyone else live over there?
