Why do you even have them if they are just barking all fucking night?
        I completely agree.

I used to get onto my dog when he was a puppy if he growled or barked at all. Now when the doorbell rings or if there's a knock at the door, he just sits and looks at it. Thank GOD.

Some people seem to not even be aware that their dogs are driving everyone else in the world INSANE. My uncle's family (five humans, two dogs, three cats) gets to hear full throttle barking anytime there is a sound at the front door, and have done so for the past 13 years. That shit drives me nuts when I stop by for a visit; I can't imagine living there.

I don't mind a dog barking at the front door, or any inside entrance for that matter. But constant outside barking is a big problem.

Difference is this story has to do with those living in a townhouse, so that barking is basically happening as if it's in the next room.

Oh yeah that's a big difference. I missed that detail.

When I was growing up this woman behind us would leave her dog out 24/7 and that thing would bark non-stop. All. Night. Long..

After speaking with the dog owner and her not growing a single f^ck to give:

My dad took a "No bark" noise thing, took it apart, wired it up to an amp, ran it to a loud speaker mounted on the back of our house, and if that dog started up, clicked it on for a bit till he shut up.

I have used something similar to this. Can't say it did a darn thing. Can't help but wonder if they just sell you a box that does nothing and you can't hear if it does something. Shock collars will shock the shit out of them and you can hear it work.

Could just wire up Van Halen's Eruption and point the speakers to the dogs and owners.

Which brings up a point that the cops will cite you for this, but not for a dog barking. That is a load of BS

I always wondered how well they work. I don't have any bad neighbors, but several of the folks out here do. I think one just bought one of these, and is contemplating using it.

You can be cited for a barking dog. At least in Irving you can.

Fuck that. I WANT my dog to bark. Of course, there is such a thing as too much. Not living in an apartment or town home, I want him to bark if someone rings the bell. Or if someone is behind my house. He is inside 99.9% of the time though, so he isn't a nuisance to anyone. The only time he really goes outside is to piss, shit, or walk, in which case I'm out there with him. Rarely, and I mean really rarely, he won't come back in because the weather is too nice. So I will leave him until I hear him bark, and then bring him in. And he doesn't just randomly bark. He will only bark if someone rings the bell, someone is behind the house that doesn't belong there, or if someone makes him uneasy around the kids (ie strangers).
