                Damn. RIP.

There are not many two-seaters left. I think there were only 10 TP-51Ds built officially, and even fewer C trainers, then some "TF-51D" versions after the war, but there can't be that many left. (I know there have been some conversions also)

I knew of this one, one or two D models in FL, one C model with the Collings Foundation (conversion), one in CA, one in England that got a resto... are there any more in the US?

Holy crap. Just saw the pilot and plane at the bryan airport just before the a&m alabama game a few weeks ago. Plane was absolutely gorgeous and show quality.

                  <-----sad.

                    RIP to those involved.

At least they died doing what they loved, though. When I go, I can only hope it will be in a badass piece of machinery like a P51.

Makes for great scumbag media sensationalism.

...but I'm guessing probably b/c the ghost was the last P51 lost before this one. Less than tasteful either way.

Cavanaugh has a 2-seat D-model that was converted to dual controls last yearish.
