Wonder what keeps employees motivated with 0 chance of a raise whether you work 80 hours a week or 20 hours. I always look at raises, bonuses and so forth as a gauge of my performance.

The risk of getting fired. And that's the way it should be, IMO. Far too many take their jobs for granted. I know I have.

But as Peter said in Office Space, that will only keep people working hard enough to not get fired.

Yeah, but there is a minimum needed and then people who take pride in their career/job. You and I might do the best we can all the time, but in my experience most do not.

Guess I'm saying that I'd probably be moving on if it is one of those environments. Annoys the piss out of me when working with a bunch of slacker and pulling their weight too.

At least they were up front with her instead of dangling the carrot for several years. However, if they suck that bad from the beginning, I can't imagine how bad they suck later. I'd start looking elsewhere.

Wife and her co workers got told never to expect a, cause the company simply doesn't give them. So she has no long term plans to stay working there.

So "entitled" is how it was explained to me at first, but basically it's just that no one below Director status gets raises ever.

The big problem as was brought out is trust. They didn't bring this up in the beginning, it was brought up on the 3rd day and they basically said if you want a pay check, sign this.

Shes most likely going to be looking for a new position.

No degree, but working towards it with the eventual goal of getting ChooPA
