A maintenance worker I know from my last job got his wedding ring caught in a piece of machinery, and it yanked the skin off the whole finger. They had to just cut it off.

For some reason that sounds worse than just having the entire finger ripped off in the original accident.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.
Sex with an Asian woman is great, but 30 minutes later you're horny again.
Just the opposite for me. I was pulling a rear bumper off of a 3/4 ton pick up and the ring saved my finger. I told my buddy to give his end a good yank and I was pulling on my end. Turns out I had left a bolt in closer to my side. I felt a hell of a pressure and yanked my hand out. The bumper clamped down on my ring and would have more then likely removed my finger as it was sharp between there and the sheet metal. Bent the ring pretty good also.
My wedding ring sits in the safe. I wore it the first six months we were married but it spent more time in my pocket instead of my hand at work so I finally just threw it in the safe.
Mine is in a safe as well. If someone can't tell I'm married by looking at me, then the ring isn't going to help. Mine wound up there because my shooter's gloves were too tight and uncomfortable with it on
I take mine off every night before bed, and any time I'm working on something or out hunting/Camping/hiking....
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776
Jewelry and electrical anything can be bad news. I've heard stories of guys in the automotive field shorting a gold wedding band with battery or alternator leads and literally burning the finger off. No bracelets, watches, rings, etc.
