Well, it seems pretty clear cash in hand in order to test ride is the answer. Frankly, I had no idea so that's real good information and QUICK. First buyer is coming by at 1400 - so we'll see.

I let the guy who bought my bandit test ride, he had a M endorsement and I had the cash in hand before he took off.

It went down like this: he looked the bike over, we talked about what history I knew of it. He wanted to ride it, I told him we could either talk about price first, and he could ride it and decide if he was in or out, or he could hand me my full asking price and go for a ride, and if he dumps it, I get the full price. He chose to make me an offer, ride it, and seal the deal when he got back. Either way, if he laid it down it was his, and that was what the money in my hand was for. It went well for both of us.

I have sold maybe half a dozen bikes. Baron's approach is perfect. Keeps the tire kickers away. I always said no, now after reading this approach -- I like it.

My old girlfriends brother was selling a Harley in the early 2000's and had a potential buyer crash and die less then 100 yards into the test drive on a residential street. He high sided the first turn he came to and sprayed his brains all over when his head hit the curb. That bike had also killed its first owner and killed its next owner as well.
