Cop shoots unarmed man WHY?

It was just a hypothesis, bro. He already said that based on just what we have now, he didn't think it was a good shoot.

Yeah man, saw that, and was glad to see it. Just think it's a silly hypothesis, as words alone would never make me quake in my boots enough to shoot someone, especially someone that backs away from me as I approach and stands still with their hands at their sides.

Wondering if the 'knife' is what the one officer picks up after the shoot and they approach. If so, he dropped the knife prior to pushing himself back away from it. That said because you really can't see a knife in his hands at any point. The mom said he had one, what wasn't talked about was whether he still had it out when they arrived...

And you're reaching really far with the saying that it depends on what he said. That's bullshit, and if you are carrying a badge and you get so scared over words that you shoot someone, you shouldn't be carrying a badge.

Since 1993, firearm-related deaths have dropped by 50%, firearm-related violence by 75%, overall crime rates are dramatically reduced and yet the number of people killed by police is now at an all time high.

There needs to be an incentive to keep trigger-happy cops from murdering innocent people other than the fear of losing their precious job.

Pass legislation to implement harsher punishments to them- give them longer mandatory prison sentences with no chance of early release. When a crooked cop is forced to spend 10 full years in prison, without the possibility of a buddy judge or family-friend prosecutor cutting him a break, ~AND~ when every one of his cop buddies that tried to cover for him get a mandatory prison sentence without early release as well, this type of crooked behavior WILL drop.

No clue on the knife, could be my screen and the crappy resolution of the vid, but I can't see it. Hell, who knows? Like I said earlier the only thing saying for sure there is a knife is the mom on the tape. No one has released if he had pocketed it, dropped it, was holding it, etc.

We need the knifes side of the story!

They LIED about him "lunging" and approaching them, and they would have kept lying and covering it up had a citizen not come forth and showed video proof. Should it just be ignored?

The officers tell one story. However, a neighborhood security camera that caught the entire incident seems to tell a different story.

The surveillance video shows Bennett backing his swivel chair away from the approaching officers. His arms appear to be at his side. The police report states Bennett lunged at the officers and one opened fire.

"Officers drew they're weapons, they told him to freeze or something of that nature, ordered him to drop the weapon or something of that nature and he just froze. He didn't move an inch. As you can see in the video they just opened fire," said Maurice Bunch who owns the surveillance video.

nothing in what you just quoted showed the neighbor as saying he did or did not have a knife. if he has a knife then that add's to the officers mental state and why the preceived things differently. if he does not have a knife then they completely fabricated the entire thing on purpose so they could shoot someone.

Again, they LIED on the report- they stated he approached them when the video proves they lied.. are you going to continue to ignore it? Your opinion is that "state of mind" should be grounds for them to falsify am official report? "Perception" is grounds for lying?
