BTW, I do agree that is the case MOST of the time, but this one is a go.

Seriously, that video would have been perfect justification for interjection and utilizing force to terminate the immediate threat to her.

In most cases, as soon as the uniformed cops arrived they would initially and immediately default to backing the side of the off duty cop. Surely you would agree with that. So, in most cases, had they intervened and tried to subdue the cop, they would have ended up proned out and dealing with their own set of problems.

I'm just saying, when the whole "respect mah authoritah" has been pounded so hard into John Q Public, it's a bit of a stretch to try and criticize those present for not intervening. Not to mention, who other than the guy filming, knew it was all on film. In fact, in the video, it appears that a woman even tries to stop him from filming. (I am thinking that was the cop's wife). And how many times have we seen cops trying to stop someone from videotaping police action, even when they have no cause to?

I will also add, someone who is a former LEO would probably have been far more comfortable challenging the cop's authority. But most of us don't have that experience / knowledge and would not want to risk charges against us.

I guess that is true as well. I'm getting tired of all these FTP incidents and it seems to be trending rather steadily. I'm sure the rest of the gen pop feel the same way.

Then again, I'd be the first to back up an officer in need while he was performing his rightful duties.

He has also been placed on leave without pay following the Oct. 7 incident
          I am truly shocked.

I agree with both of your statements 100%. If I, as a "civilian" rolled up on a situation where a cop appeared to need assistance, I too would immediately attempt to assist. At the same time, even just watching "cops" on TV, I constantly see the police acting in ways I vehemently oppose.

It's a very tricky dichotomy I hope to never be in.

That fat sack of shit needs to be charged with intoxication assault and have his badge removed. "this is how marines treat soldiers"? Yeah...that paints a really good light on the USMC.

I see this in many videos and it amazes me also. If that was my wife, daughter, girlfriend, or friend it wouldn’t matter that he had a badge. I’m not some badass, but I wouldn’t treat a person that way so why would I let some else? I wonder how much longer the masses are going to stand around and just watch this crap happen.

Let's be fair, he was drunk and tried to hit on her, she told him to get bent, and he went all Cartman on her. At least, that's how I see what started the scenario

He will receive back pay once his vacation is over.

I am so glad I wasn't there to see him twist her arms like that. I would have walked up behind him and shoved a sharp object into the side of his neck. I would have spit on him and laughed at him as his blood squirted out on the floor. I am so fed up with these assholes who don't even deserve to share the air that I breath. Let alone be able to be in a position of authority.

In that pretty mouth of yours? What you're talking about is an orchestrated restraint which would take several people to do. How are you going to quickly coordinate that with everyone standing around? It'd be you and you only, and more than likely, since she was cuffed, he'd come after you. You reach for his gun that "aged and overweight" police officer then has a reason to kill you. The cops then reviewing this footage would then state the same thing, but regardless of you laying on a booze soaked floor bleeding out it's the chivalry that matters, right?

LMAO! Doubtful it would play out like that, but we'll just leave the show on your channel.
