What do employers do about legal weed usage?

Thing with alcohol is if you have alcohol in your blood then you are intoxicated, and since it is metabilized relatively fast it is out of your system in hours. If you test positive for thc, you are not necessarily intoxicated as it could be from 30 minutes ago, or 30 days ago.

Employers really should be looking at on the job intoxication, in my opinion, though I do not know enough about it to know if there are blood tests for other drugs that tell you how recently you partook, or measure actual intoxication.

There are now oral swab tests where they can determine if you have smoked in the last 5 hours. Not sure how expensive it is though.

Depends a lot on your body fat percentage and how much / often you smoke. Could be much less, could be longer.
And if their testing hair, it's detectible if you consumed it and have not cut the hair since (or the section growing upon consumption anyways).

We have guys that work in the kitchens. They will drink vinegar to try and beat the UAs. I am no chemist or doctor but from what I have been told, the vinegar encapsulates the fat cells where the THC is stored and keeps them from getting into the urine.

It seems to work pretty well too. I have had folks tested that I would have put a weeks check on the line that they would test non-negative for THC...since I had statements from a local that said he sold to them. Couldn't believe it when they passed. But they drank A LOT of vinegar the night before.

My coworker thinks once it's legal they won't be able to find clean workers and will have to pay us more. These are the people I have to deal with on a daily basis.

Interesting. I bet we will start to see these types of tests more often in states where it is legal; maybe not for the large national companies, but I would not be surprised to see locally owned businesses go to them in places like Colorado.
