Wish i knew what to say, Sorry to hear this.
But as others have said dont play the what if game it will eat you alive.
I know first hand, I had a drunk on a bike hit me and he was killed.
I started to play the game, what if I was one lane over he would have missed me. And the one min thoughts also.
Dont be to proud to ask for a little help, no shame there. Best of luck and just remember all the good times.

If I would have left camp 1 minute later or 1 minute earlier she would be ok. If the SUV would have left it's destination 1 minute earlier or later she would be ok. Banged up but ok. Instead she lays on a slab at Palomar Memorial Hospital as we speak never to breathe again or hug her Nephews again.

I can't help but think that I played a large part in this and the thing that hurts the worst is that her family will never get to say good bye.

This probably isn't the forum for this but I needed vent.

                            Sorry guys.
Dude, don't let that crap beat you up. And you are definitely not guilty of anything! You had no part in her death. If anything, you were helping her with something that brought joy to her life.

I lost my sister in Midland in June 2012 to some ass-hat passing in a no passing zone...to your point one minute later or earlier, she'd still be alive today. I, too, never got to say good-bye to her. The last we spoke was on my birthday a couple of weeks prior. That all said, what happened, happened. We don't have to understand it, we don't have to like it, but we all have to accept it.

I truly am sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone. I called her Mom and Sisters today. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done explaining over the phone what happened. The CACOs that showed up to the house I guess didn't explain what had happened past her daughter was dead from a motorcycle accident.

Having to explain to a mother that her daughter was hit by a truck and I couldn't bring her back, was the hardest single thing I've ever done in my life.

I can't imagine how heart-wrenching it was to explain things to her mom, but I can assure you that it will bring her some comfort knowing that someone was there that cared about and for her, and that she wasn't alone on that road.
